Delivery Policy

1. Delivery Notifications

You will receive an email at the address you have specified when your order has been dispatched – this email contains the tracking number (if applicable) so you can track it online right to your door. You can also choose to have a delivery confirmation sent to your mobile phone via text message.

2. Delivery timescales

The delivery time scale is specified on the product page to indicate when you will receive your order.If placed before 4 pm, subject to passing necessary checks, your order will be shipped the same day to be received the following day (excluding Sundays and Public Holidays). Next day delivery applies automatically for free to all Malta orders over Euro 60. If the order is under Euro 60, a next day delivery option can be selected in the checkout. Orders received just after 4pm are also often dispatched the same day although this is not guaranteed.

Orders shipped on Friday by 4pm will be delivered the next day.

Orders over Euro 60 placed before 1pm on Sunday will be delivered on Monday. Orders under Euro 60 can be upgraded to Monday delivery for Euro 2 extra.

Melita Marine Limited – The Chandlery does not currently open on public holidays. Orders received on these days will be dispatched the next working day with the delivery timescales as above.

Due to the nature of the product which Melita Marine Ltd sell, Melita Marine Ltd operate a strict fraud screening process and therefore Melita Marine Ltd are only able to offer this next-day service if the order is validated by our network easily. (e.g. it is being delivered to the billing address registered to the card, or it is being delivered to a known company, or you have used your card before and have no bad history). In almost all cases, this is a straight forward process and can be completed immediately.

If this is not the case (e.g. you specify an alternative residential address as the delivery location which resides in another county to the billing address) there may be a delay of a few hours while Melita Marine Ltd perform the appropriate checks. If Melita Marine Ltd are unable to validate your order, you will receive an email to inform you of this and what the next steps are.

In the event of a delay, Melita Marine Ltd will contact you either by email or telephone to inform you of this.

While 99% of Malta locations are valid for next day delivery, there are a few remote locations which are not covered by the next day delivery service.

2.1 International deliveries

The delivery estimate on the product page does not necessarily apply for international deliveries. International shipping is calculated in the checkout. The delivery timescale is shown on the final page of the checkout. This is generally between 2 – 10 working days. Orders outside of the EU may have an additional delivery charge which is calculated in the checkout process after you select your country.

Orders over Euro 120 will be shipped via DHL Express, which is a next day delivery service to most countries. Orders under Euro 120 can be upgraded to Express for Euro 5, otherwise they will be shipped via DHL Global Mail. Global Mail deliveries take 3-5 working days within Europe, and 2-10 working days for the rest of the world.

3. Postage method

All orders over and equal to Euro 60 qualify for free Express Delivery. This means your item will be delivered the day after dispatch.

Optionally, you can choose to have your ordered delivered before 9 am the following working day for an additional charge of Euro 10.

For orders under Euro 60, you are given free Standard Delivery, which means delivery is usually on the day following dispatch, but in rare circumstances can be take a few days. You also have the option in the checkout process to select Express Delivery for Euro 2 extra, or 9 am delivery for Euro 10 extra.

For same day delivery, orders must be placed before 2pm SUNDAYFRIDAY, this service is unavailable on a SATURDAY. Deliveries will be made between 6pm – 10pm. If the order is unable to be delivered, a card will be posted through the door and we will try again the next day.

For deliveries to address in EU Member States other than Malta (where delivery service is provided by Melita Marine Ltd), Melita Marine Ltd will make a charge to you for its delivery services.

4. Missed deliveries

If you are not in to receive the delivery at the time the delivery is attempted, the delivery company will leave you a card to notify you of the missed delivery attempt. This will allow you to either telephone them to arrange a redelivery at a more convenient time or collect it from your local sorting office. Due to security reasons, all items sent by our ‘Express’ delivery method require a signature.

If for any reason the item is returned to us (e.g. incorrect address specified, item not called for), then Melita Marine Ltd will inform you immediately by email as soon as Melita Marine Ltd receive the item. From this point forth, you will be given a choice whether you wish us to redespatch the item or for you to cancel the order. Please note that for items that were undelivered through fault of the consumer and a refund is requested, Melita Marine Ltd reserve the right to deduct our outwardly shipping fees from the refund total.

5. Late deliveries or dispatch

Although Melita Marine Ltd are able to ship almost every order in the specified delivery timescale, in rare circumstances our shipping capacity can be exceeded and cause a delay of one extra day. Melita Marine Ltd regret that this situation can occur occasionally, and is an unfortunate situation which is naturally associated with buying online, however this only occurs in rare situations and, should this occur, your order is marked for urgent delivery the following day.

The other circumstance which may cause a delay is when the delivery service itself has a problem. This, again, is a rare situation but is unfortunately beyond our control. In these situations, Melita Marine Ltd will do our very best to take responsibility for the situation and ensure that your order is delivered as quickly as possible.

5.1 Consequential loss for late deliveries

If a delivery is late, e.g. the postal service fails to deliver within the guaranteed timescale, then Melita Marine Ltd will provide a refund of any delivery charges that were charged to you. If the delivery was free, Melita Marine Ltd do not provide financial compensation to cover consequential losses, e.g. Time taken off work to receive deliveries, or the item is intended as a gift, and you purchase the same item from a more expensive retailer.

6. Delivery to business addresses
Melita Marine Ltd allow delivery to alternate delivery addresses including business addresses and places of work. If you do specify a business address for delivery, please ensure that there will be someone available during normal working hours e.g. at reception who can sign for delivery on your behalf to the address and not necessarily to the named person.
